iCt week 1 reflection....role of technology and media in education

                      -------------------------Overview of task-----------------------

The topic this week was to determine the role of technology and media in education.
Our main task today was to define learning, state the three types of learning styles and give a brief overview of the behaviorist, constructivist, and cognitive theory on education. Finally, we had to identify the 6 main categories media and state the role of  technology and media in education.

         --------------------------Steps took to complete task---------------------------

We began by doing a group research. In this research we defined learning as the permanent change in behavior in the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes from different experiences as individuals meaning of their environment.

Finally, each person had to write what they thought the role of technology and media in education was. My response was the role of technology and media in education is to enhance and make learning easier through the use of various media to better cater for all individuals despite their learning styles and capabilities.


                                        --------------------CHALLENGES--------------------
The main challenge I faced was my laptop was not connecting to the internet despite my numerous attempts, so I was unable to help the group to get information for the first few minutes, however I overcame this issue when a group member told me I had to enter the password a specific way in order for it to work.

                -----------------WHAT I LEARNT FROM THE EXPERIENCE AND HOW I WILL USE IT IN MY CLASSROOM-------------------------

I learnt they are many different types of learners and just because I learn verbally does not mean others do. Some may learn visually and others learn using their body and as a teacher I intend to use what I learnt and cater to my students different learning styles using the various types of medias to enhance their learning.
